Phase 3 Fitness Program Begins July 6

Accepting New Students

Hello all,

We are happy to inform everyone that Virginia is going to Phase 3 on July 3, 2020. Here are some important updates for Total Defense Martial Arts beginning Monday, July 6:

  • Class numbers will increase to 12 students and 1 instructor each.
  • We will open BJJ KIDS classes! For now, they are going to be split into 2 groups and will only be 1 day a week. Please see below for times and special rules.
  • The fitness class schedule is changing slightly. Please see below.
  • We are still not sparring (sorry, we are following the rules), but all classes are following drills that pertain to the subject. A roadblock is nothing but an opportunity to break new ground in our techniques. For example, in Matt Warner’s BJJ fitness class, they’ve been perfecting some top-maintenance skills that we don’t normally do.
  • We are continuing to offer discounted dues during this phase. Please inquire for specific terms.
  • We will be accepting new students starting July 6. New students may still get a free first week.

TDMA hopes everyone will keep investing in our school. Many schools have shut down during the last 3 months. Thankfully, we have made it through, and now we must keep moving forward. All have enjoyed taking these classes and just getting together with the crew. TDMA is taking all the precautions we can take to keep us all safe by following Virginia’s rules as much as possible and still getting a great workout.

Special Rules for Kids BJJ:

  1. Kids may sign up for one (1) BJJ class, either track “A” on Tuesday or track “B” on Thursday.
  2. Kids must come to class fully dressed in their gis.
  3. Parents may stay inside but will have to follow social distancing.
  4. Instructors will wear masks. For kids, masks are optional but strongly encouraged.
